RE: Marathon Florida-campgrounds

I agree with Dobbler98 about Knights Key. We already signed up for the winter, but have never had a problem in Dec. for 2 or 3 weeks at a time in prior years. They started taking reserv. for this winter Sept. one, so I'd look into it now if possible. Good luck.

RE: Last Years T-Day Carnage - Late

Wow! What do you carry in that trailer? So glad location was remote enough to prevent a possible accident with others and you weren't hurt.

RE: Shingles

There is a shingles shot available for us older adults whose immunity might be worn off from having the chicken pox as children. I got one last year before I traveled out of the country.

RE: stolen RV responsibility

It just seems reasonable that if dealer is negligent in protecting your property while in their care they can become legally responsible for making it right to the extent to which they were negligent, no matter what state they are in?

RE: Class A Prices

Hi, Retiredbutworking, Dare I raise my hand? That would be me gettin' that discount amount this spring. (So, ok, it was only 44.5%-you caught me!)

RE: Gas ?????????

Have no fear, that rise is just a little scare bump before the national election. It is in the US oil companies, and the Saudi's, best interest to keep a big oil company loving conservative candidate in office, who will DRILL,DRILL,DRILL,and allow those companies stocks to soar. Americans tend to latch onto easy, no skin off my back solutions, even when they aren't long lasting or reasonable solutions. OK, just my humble opinion! Have at it!

RE: Class A Prices

In negotiating a price in todays economy, IMO you should do your reseach on rv you want, then be aggressive in stating a figure much lower than you want to pay. You can always go up, but tough to go down again, except with another dealer. It is amazing how fast a dealer response you will get when you push your chair aside and get up to walk out the door. Even those wholesale prices can be too steep when we are in a depressing recession. When new rv purchasers are getting 35-45% off MSRP, even a one year old model has to be taking quite a hit, too. JMO, but good luck on your purchase!

RE: Filon vs. Gelcoat

We wondered the same before fiver purchase in April. We decided on the filon, mainly because it was substantially less weight on a 32' toyhauler.

RE: Have you ever

Yep, 2 new bikes off back rack of MH while camping on Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Desk clerk didn't mention they had similar problems when we signed in that night. Cut through lock wire, so they were methodical. Insurance covered after police report.

RE: Emergency window

We use plastic ties after reading about window blowing out on this forum. But like idea of pin through drilled hole. Thanks!

RE: Is a class A for us? Need advice from class A owners.

Just an idea, but if it were me I might consider a small B or B+, pulling a lighter toyhauler trailer so you can have some of both worlds, and fairly decent gas mileage when not towing. Create your own toy hauler configeration for children's sleeping accommadations, and use same space for the myriad of bikes, toys, etc., that might make your touring with kids more fun.

RE: Scared dog

Our cat did fine in the car/truck, but went into hiding when the wipers were turned on in the MH. I suspect the hum or noise level affected him on a sound level we could not detect. Something similar-an engine noise may be hard on his sensitive hearing? Good luck.

RE: wobbly table

3 points of contact better than 2, so maybe purchase an expandable bar, like kind for holding items in a truck bed, and place in 3rd place under table? It would be easy to store and remove for bed conversion? Good luck.

RE: RPM Gauge not working, intermittent

I agree with gauge problems. Our 2005 silverado was replaced with just 3,000 miles on it.

RE: Since we're on the topic, peeled or not?

Potato peelings are rich in vitamin B6 and B12-antioxidents.

RE: Alaskan RV Tours

Dale, We opted for research and The Milepost on one trip. Took our time, stopped and "smelled the roses" frequently, and had a lovely time. Roads are pretty good most of the way. Frequent turnoffs, camping areas available, and you will meet other campers doing the same. We, personally, would not have enjoyed being tied to a large group or itinerary. Another time we drove to Vancouver, parked the camper, took a cruise ship up, rented a MH between five friends for a week, and cruised back to Vancouver, while some of the group flew home. Both ways were unforgettable. Have fun on your trip!

RE: New - Need Advice and Moral Support

Got a feeling you will enjoy this new way of travel! Just be prepared for learning some new travel skills. Most problems can be solved with a little help or inquiry. Go with your intuition-if something seems wrong, stop and ck. it out. Your dogs will make the Winnie their home, if you do. Have fun!!

RE: transmission problems (I think)

Thank you forum users for this question and replies. We just got back from a longer trip with our newer pu and fiver and I wondered the same thing about that noise. Not used to hearing that roar. It was a hot humid day of travel, too. Since tv is still on warranty, even wondered if I should take it in for checkup, especially since the chevy had a radiator hose fall off and engine overheated on trip. My good friend/gm repairman thought it would be good to stop in and at least have overheat on record, just in case.
